October 19th Scarf Bombing

The SEVENTH, yes SEVENTH season on The Wrap Up Project officially kicks off on Monday, October 19th at 7pm at the Lancaster Free Public Library on Duke Street in Lancaster. (It’s right across from City Hall.) Afterwards, roughly around 8pm, we will head on to the Columbia Presbyterian Church to scarf bomb there.

As per CDC guidelines, we request that every wears a mask and practices social distancing. Let’s all stay healthy!

We look forward to seeing you on October 19th, and to another successful WUP season!

It’s 90 degrees. In October. Time for Scarves!

Ugh! Can you believe this weather?! I can’t. Summer won’t let go, and it’s 90 degrees outside. Still, it IS October, and that means we are gearing up for another scarf-bombing season….our sixth!

We hope that you have been making handmade scarves during the spring and summer to get ready. Be sure to take them to one of our drop off locations.

In preparation, there are few events we’d love to see you at. Be sure to respond if you are coming on the appropriate events’ Facebook page. Have you liked us on Facebook? You should!

  • October Tagging Party: Come on out to Kegel’s Produce and help us tag items to be put out for scarf-bombing!
  • October Scarf-Bombing: We’ll be at San Juan Bautista Preschool to put out scarves.
  • Sit and Stitch: We’ll be meeting in the center of Park City Mall to knit and crochet, chat, and watch the mall goers. You don’t have to craft to come. Just come on out to introduce yourself.

That’s what is going on for October. Fall needs to hurry up and get here!

October Scarf-Bombing Wrap-up

Last night on October 24, 2017, the Wrap Up! Project ventured into Lancaster and Columbia to scarf-bomb.  It may have been a warm day, but the night was cool, and people were out and about.  It was a great time to have a scarf-bombing!

Cub Scout 58 from Willow Street came out and lent their time and talents to distributing scarves last night.  Thanks, guys!  You did a great job!  We always welcome groups and members of the community to come out and help.

All of our volunteers who came out last night did a great job!  Even the furry ones!  Thank you guys for your help.

Here are a few more photos of the scarf-bombing around Penn Square and Columbia Presbyterian Church.  Read more in Erin Negly’s great article today in LNP!

As for me, Jenn the Tech Gal, I was walking to work today and saw two people happily walking along with two of the scarves that were put out last night, tags fluttering in the breeze.  It felt so good to see that!  We are making a difference.  YOU are making a difference.  Keep up the good work!

Have you heard about our upcoming event at The Speckled Sheep on October 31, 2017?  WUP will be having a Sit and Stitch, and you are invited!  LNP will be there to cover the event, so we would love it if you’d come out!  Be sure to RSVP and let us know you are coming on our Facebook event page.

It May Be Spring….

…..but we still need scarves!

As we can all identify for those of us who live in Pennsylvania right now, the weather can change on a dime, meaning, it can and probably will get cold again.  With that being said, we still need scarves!  The evenings can still be cold, and the days can be, too.

You can do it!  Get crafting and whip up some scarves?  Have some and need to drop them off?  Click here for our drop off points.

Be sure to spread the word that we need scarves, too!

ICYMI: January’s Scarf-Bombing

Hi!  Jenn here, your friendly WUP media person.

I want to apologize for not being more on top of things here, but I have a good excuse:  I’ve been sick.

I’m not still feeling great, but at least I’m able to update about the most recent scarf-bombing this past January 2017, right?  We were at the YWCA in Lancaster, PA, USA, as well as our usual stop at Columbia Presbyterian Church in Columbia, PA, USA.

One awesome thing about this past scarf-bombing?  WUP was joined by a couple of helpful students from Reidenbaugh Elementary in our efforts. Here they are pictured below.

Student from Reidenbaugh Elementary.

Thanks for your help, ladies!  They are members of their school’s knitting club, and contributed to what WUP put out that night, too.  Read more about their efforts here, and support them!

I’ll leave you with a few more photos from the evening.  Be sure to check out the WUP Facebook page to see more videos of the event and to keep up to date on what we’re doing, too!

As for me, I promise, I’ll get better soon, and I’m sure many of you out there are going through the same thing with winter illnesses.  Be well!
